Day 1 Zurich
Make your own way to the tour hotel in Zurich. In the evening, meet your driver/guide and fellow travellers over a welcome dinner at a local restaurant. (D)
Day 2 Zurich & Interlaken
This morning we enjoy a walking tour of the ‘Old Town’ of Zurich. Enjoy a stroll down the 'Bahnhofstrasse,' one of the world’s most exclusive shopping avenues towards 'Paradeplatz' one of the city’s famous squares, where we gain a glimpse of the serene Lake Zurich. We visit Zurich’s 9th century church, as well as its most impressive landmark, Grossmunster, and its Romanesque style church. Leaving Zurich we soak up the mountainous scenery as we drive along Brunig Pass to Interlaken - the gateway to the spectacular Jungfrau region. (B)
Day 3 Interlaken
The peaceful town of Interlaken is located at the foot of the towering trio of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau Mountains. The region offers a multitude of optional activities and experiences; visit the highest railway station in Europe on the Jungfraujoch, or alternatively, James Bond fans may travel to the famous revolving restaurant on the summit of the Schilthorn. Day 4 Swiss Alps & Mt Rigi
This morning we stop in the tiny village of Brienz, renowned for its exquisite of wood carvings. We then enjoy a peaceful drive to our final destination for today, Mt Rigi, only accessible by cog railway or gondola. Our scenic accommodation enjoys spectacular views of the Swiss Mountains. Tonight we enjoy a traditional Swiss fondue dinner. (B,D)
Day 5 Lucerne
Waking up amongst the Alps we head into the lakeside city of Lucerne by boat. We enjoy a walking tour and see the famous Lion Monument, Glacier Gardens, Chapel Bridge and the Hopfkirche (Abbey Court Church). We wander through its scenic quarter with its half timbered buildings that seem to not to have changed these 350 years. You may return to the hotel by boat at your leisure and prepare for another scrumptious Swiss Alpine dinner. (B,D)
Day 6 Austrian Tyrol & Innsbruck
This morning we travel across the border into Austria, driving through the rugged mountain scenery into the Tyrol Valley. This area is famed for its idyllic beauty and we wind through Alpine roads on to its delightful capital, Innsbruck. Here we have ample opportunity to stroll through this historic city before heading to our traditional Tyrolese accommodation. (B)
Day 7 Berchtesgardan & Salzburg
Today’s drive will delight as we travel through the mountains from the Austrian Tyrol region into Germany. We visit the stunning village of Berchtesgaden, known for the historic 16th century salt mines and its deep glacial lake. For those who are not afraid to go underground, take an optional mine tour. This afternoon we travel back into Austria and arrive in the classical city of Salzburg. (B)
Day 8 Salzburg
Made famous by Mozart and The Sound of Music, we take an enthralling morning tour of Salzburg, renowned for its baroque architecture and attractive Alpine setting. Today we visit the spectacular Hohensalzburg Fortress, St Peter’s Church, with its Rococo decorations, the Dom church and Mozart’s Birthplace. The afternoon is at your leisure to explore the city’s spires, splendid gardens or relax in its city squares. Tonight we have dinner in one of Salzburg’s oldest restaurants. (B,D)
Day 9 Munich
Leaving Austria behind it’s a short journey to Germany, and Munich, the capital of Bavaria. We visit the Dachau Memorial Camp, which sits on the site of the former concentration camp, before heading into the city for an informative walking tour. We admire the Marienplatz and its famous Glockenspiel, the Church of our Lady and the old Town Hall. Tonight is our farewell dinner, and where better to take it than at a traditional Bavarian Beerhall. (B,D)
Day 10 Munich
After breakfast, check-out from the hotel. End of services. (B)
