Day 1 Prague
Arriving in Prague, you have ample opportunity to explore this marvellous city before meeting your group and heading to a centrally located restaurant for a traditional Czech meal. (D)
Day 2 Prague
Prague is known as the city of one hundred spires, and we discover why as we embark on a guided walking tour of the old centre of this historic city. Crossing the memorial Charles Bridge, we visit captivating sites such as the Old Jewish Quarter, Hradcany Castle, Powder Tower, Tyne Church and Wenceslas Square, where Czechoslovakia’s Velvet Revolution took place. Day 3 Cesky Krumlov
Leaving Prague, we visit two World Heritage sites. The first is historic Kutna Hora where we wander through its old town and the cemetery chapel with its ossuary of approximately 40,000 bones. Next is the charming city of Cesky Krumlov, known for its Medieval, Renaissance and Baroque architecture. Stroll its ancient streets, or relax and enjoy a local beer in Old Town Square before tonight’s Bohemian meal. (B/D)
Day 4 Vienna
Travelling over the border into Austria, we adjourn for an emotional visit to the former concentration camp at Mauthausen, one of the largest Nazi controlled labour camps in Europe during World War II. Tracing the Danube river, we meander through some spectacular countryside, and visit a lovely local town, Melk, for lunch and the famous Benedictine Monastery. Then it’s on to Vienna, with its magnificent imperial buildings and famous palaces. (B)
Day 5 Vienna
Enjoy a morning guided tour and discover why this city is so internationally revered as you follow the ‘Ringstrasse,’ viewing the most famous buildings in Vienna including the State Opera House and St Stephen’s Cathedral, and Vienna’s illustrious Hapsburg palaces. Tonight is a special highlight as we have dinner in the magnificent Kursalon followed by a Strauss and Mozart concert. (B,D)
Day 6 Vienna
Today is completely free for you to enjoy the many things this famous city has to offer. Perhaps visit one of the many Christmas Markets (December only), or spend time in one of the many museums this enchanting city has to offer. For something different, why not visit the interesting Hundertwasser House! (B)
Day 7 Budapest
Meandering alongside the famous Danube River, we arrive in the small town of Esztergom, the historic capital of Hungary for more than two centuries. Here you will visit the famous Basilica, Hungary’s tallest building, and still the seat of the Catholic Church in Hungary. Then it’s on to romantic Budapest. (B)
Day 8 Budapest
Our Budapest tour will showcase the iconic sites of the city, such as the Liberation Memorial, Roosevelt Square, Chain Bridge, St Mathias' Cathedral, and Fisherman's Bastion. You have the afternoon free to explore the Castle District with its cobbled streets and network of underground tunnels. Tonight will be a special hearty farewell dinner, of Hungarian Goulash. (B,D)
Day 9 Budapest
Your tour finishes after breakfast in Budapest. Make sure you experience a massage in one of the famous bathhouses before you leave. (B)
