Day 1 Munich
Arrive at our hotel located in Munich at your leisure. Explore this vibrant city before joining your group, and where better to get better acquainted than in a traditional Bavarian beerhall! (D)
Day 2 Salzburg
The capital of Bavaria, noted for its architecture and culture, Munich is worth exploring and today we take a guided tour with our guide to admire such sites as the Marienplatz (with its famous Glockenspiel), the Church of our Lady and the old Town Hall. We leave the city to the sombre Dachau Memorial Camp, which sits on the site of the former WWII concentration camp. Crossing the border into Austria, we arrive in dazzling Salzburg. The city illuminates in the evening, where you may enjoy a meal in one of the countless restaurants or cafes to absorb the lively atmosphere. (B)
Day 3 Salzburg
Made famous by Mozart and The Sound of Music, we take an enthralling tour of Salzburg, renowned for its baroque architecture and attractive alpine setting. Visit the spectacular Hohensalzburg Fortress, St Peter’s Church, with its Rococo decorations, the Dom church and Mozart’s Birthplace. Tonight we enjoy a scrumptious meal in one of Salzburg’s oldest restaurants. (B, D)
Day 4 Tyrol
We take pleasure in the scenic mountainous drive, and take a detour into Germany to visit the stunning village of Berchtesgaden, known for the historic 16th century salt mines and its deep glacial lake. For those who are not afraid to go underground, take an optional mine tour. This afternoon we travel back into Austria to our traditional accommodation in the Tyrol Valley, famed for its idyllic beauty. (B)
Day 5 Swiss Alps
We wind through stunning alpine roads in the Tyrol Valley and stop to admire its delightful capital, Innsbruck. Here we have ample opportunity to wander around the historic city before crossing over into the Swiss Alps. Our splendid accommodation is only accessible by cog railway and enjoys spectacular views of the Swiss Mountains. Tonight we enjoy a traditional Swiss fondue dinner. (B,D)
Day 6 Swiss Alps
Wake up in the fresh Swiss mountain air, and enjoy a delicious breakfast before we catch a boat into the lakeside city of Lucerne for a walking tour. We visit the famous Lion Monument, Glacier Gardens, Chapel Bridge and the Hopfkirche and wander through the scenic quarter with its half timbered buildings, which remain unchanged for over 350 years. This is the place to pick up that genuine Swiss army knife or watch. You may return to the hotel by boat at your leisure. Tonight, another scrumptious Swiss Alpine dinner! (B,D)
Day 7 Interlaken
We enjoy another awe-inspiring drive through pristine Swiss mountain scenery. We stop in the tiny village of Brienz, renowned for its history of wood carving over the centuries as we continue to the peaceful town of Interlaken, located at the foot of the towering trio of the Eiger, Mönch & Jungfrau Mountains. (B)
Day 8 Interlaken
Today is at your leisure to take advantage of the many activities and sightseeing opportunities in the area. You may visit the highest railway station in Europe on the Jungfraujoch. Alternatively, James Bond fans may travel to the famous revolving restaurant on the summit of the Schilthorn. (B)
Day 9 Zurich
Absorb more dramatic scenery on our journey to vibrant Zurich, Europe’s financial capital. This afternoon enjoy a walking tour of the ‘Old Town’ of Zurich. Stroll down the famous 'Bahnhofstrasse' - one of the world’s most exclusive shopping avenues - towards 'Paradeplatz' one of the city’s famous squares, where we glimpse the serene Lake Zurich. Next, visit Zurich’s 9th century church, as well as its most impressive landmark, Grossmunster, the Romanesque style church. Tonight we enjoy our last hearty group meal. (B,D)
Day 10 Zurich
Your tour will finish after a Swiss breakfast. Depending on when your flight leaves, you can do some last minute shopping or more sightseeing in this exquisite city. (B)
